about

Based very loosely on T.S. Eliot's 'Ash Wednesday' poem. This is the most religious song on the record, reflecting on being invited to the table despite my own deficiencies.

lyrics

Because I could taste it
Because I have heard this all before
I’m hopeful and faceless
And still leave my letters at my door
By your door

When you offered a seat at the table
I thought I was still in the red
And dressed in ashes to see if you’re able
To raise the dead

I’m happy to eat you
I know it’s been some time since I last
Was steadfast and see-through
Delayed when the sky is overcast
But I still feel that old shame
The bastard won’t back down from a fight
So write down a new name
How long have I lived with a parasite?
A parasite…

When you offered a seat at the table
I thought I was still in the red
And dressed in ashes to see if you’re able
To raise the dead

To raise the dead
To raise the dead

When you offered a seat at the table
I thought I was still in the red
And dressed in ashes to see if you’re able
To raise the dead

When you offered a seat at the table
I thought I was still in the red
And dressed in ashes to see if you’re able
To raise the dead
