about

I wanted to explore the many dynamics of what it looks like to jump into something with both feet. Sometimes it can look really bad. Dark paths of the mind leading to mental illness, toxic religiosity, isolation, distraction and addiction. But getting carried away with something can be really beautiful as well. Devoting oneself to a greater cause, falling in love, feasting. Maybe this is the heart of wisdom; knowing when to indulge and knowing when to abstain.

lyrics

Myron says that more is less
The noise is somewhat quieter at dark
And he’s a little in love with
The solitude, a bookish brood
The silence sews a thread right through his thoughts

So I say
‘Don’t get carried away
Keep your head on your shoulders
Don’t get carried away with it

Twenty-one and on the run
I fell into a hospital of priests
We were a little in love with
The potential of revival
And asking who was greatest or the least

Now we say
We just got carried away
We thought that we were anointed
We just got carried away with it

Valerie is poor and free
She’s living where there are many mouths to feed
And she’s a little in love with
The notion of demotions dove
She throws away her days for beauty’s bleed

And she says
I’ve been carried away
Lost myself for a moment
I’ve been carried away
I’ve been carried away
Lost myself
I’ve been carried away with it
